Astro - Loved, Loathed but Loyal

So I drew Astro Boy again and decided to colour him again because I find his shiny-ness fun to do
._. I seriously adore Astro Boy so much. The 1960s series is so charming and the 1980s remake is too! Then the 2003 re-RE-make was completely different. The animation is so pretty and the story's much darker but with the same fundamental themes as Osamu Tezuka's original - about pollution and racism and co-existence with all things.

I'd watched one of the episodes today in which the Blue Knight was trying to turn Astro's allegiance away from the humans and I drew this...like he's listening to what the Blue Knight is saying and he's sad that there are some who don't think robots and humans can ever co-exist.
It kind of draws parallels with the world today really. There's such a wide variety of people in this world and yet there are some who can't live with those who aren't like them, kind of like the people in the Astro Boy world who can't bear to live alongside robots. Astro's belief that everyone can one day be friends is an inspiring dream.. Though it may always be just a dream it's nice to hope for a world in which that becomes reality

So the title.. Loved, Loathed but Loyal is to do with the fact that there are some who love Astro despite the fact he's a robot and there are others who loathe and despise him because of it and would rather destroy him yet he remains loyal to his heart and the humans regardless of whether they like him or not.
Astro has a heart of gold and more humanity than most of us. He's such an inspiring little kid~ ^_^
